Our Trust Officers have a depth and breadth of experience that includes backgrounds as accountants, attorneys, Chartered Financial Analysts (CFAs), Certified Financial Planners (CFPs), and MBAs. Our department head, Jeff Cox, has been legal counsel and has been involved in the trust services business for more than 30 years, and several of our officers boast more than a decade of experience in banking and trust services. Beyond the bank, our officers serve throughout the community on various boards of philanthropic agencies.

    Jeff is a licensed AV® PreeminentTM Peer Review Rated attorney by Martindale Hubbard, reflecting overall expertise, experience, integrity, and the highest level of professional excellence. A strategic planner and thinker, prior to joining CB&T in 2022, Jeff served as legal counsel to numerous individuals and businesses, advising them in a wide range of business, real estate, wills, trusts, estates, and probate law matters. Jeff also served as CB&T's chief outside legal counsel for over 30 years before transitioning to overseeing the Wealth Management & Trust department. Jeff has and continues to serve in numerous leadership roles with several nonprofit organizations, his church, and professional associations. Jeff and his wife, Julie, have been married since 1984, have two grown children, and most recently two grandsons. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys playing tennis, skiing, hiking, and being with family and friends.

    A licensed attorney, Steve practiced law in Dallas and Waco for 12 years prior to joining Community Bank & Trust in 1999. He currently serves on the Texas Banker's Association's Government Relations Council, where he is active in lobbying efforts related to the corporate trust industry. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Waco, Inc., where he serves as Treasurer, and is the Chairman of the Meals on Wheels Program. Steve graduated from SMU School of Law and Trinity University. He is married to Kathleen French Dow, an attorney, and they have one child, Dylan. They enjoy supporting Dylan in his sports and activities.

    Lisa received her Certified Public Accountant designation in 1987. She was actively engaged as a CPA with local accounting firms for 20 years prior to joining Community Bank & Trust in 2007. Lisa serves as a mentor in the LEAD program and has been a long-time volunteer with the Adopt-A-School program at Alta Vista and Kendrick Elementary Schools. In addition, she is involved in missions work at First Baptist Church of Waco and serves on the board at LaPuerta Waco. A graduated of Texas A&M University with a BBA and Baylor University with an M.T., she has two adult daughters and two grandchildren and enjoys cooking and reading in her spare time.

    John started his career at Community Bank & Trust as a credit analyst in 2002 after graduating from Baylor University. John was promoted to Trust Officer and joined the Trust Department in 2007. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and works as an investment portfolio manager. He is a four-term member of the Waco City Council, has previously and currently serves on various non-profit and civic boards supporting a wide range of initiatives and programs including public health, transportation planning, and arts and culture, and also works to support financial empowerment initiatives within the community.

    Evan came to Community Bank & Trust with prior professional experience in management with some well-known business in Waco, including Nick's Restaurant and Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. A graduate of Baylor University with a BA in Business in 1979 and an Executive MBA in 2001, and the Texas Banker's Association Trust School, Evan has been a Trust Officer with Community Bank & Trust since 2003. Evan stays active within his community through his work with the Waco Rotary Club, Mission Waco/Church Under the Bridge, WISD student mentor program, the Greater Waco Chamber, and the Baylor Bear Foundation. Together, he and his wife, Kimberly Branch Klaras, enjoy the blessing of four adult children. Evan enjoys playing golf, and both jazz and classical guitar.

    Neal joined Community Bank & Trust in 2016 after serving as the investment officer for FirstBank Southwest Wealth Management in Amarillo, Texas. He has been in the financial services industry for ten years and has experience in banking, insurance, and investments. Neal earned his Bachelor's in Ag Business and Economics from West Texas A&M University. Neal and his wife, Ginger, along with their two children enjoy spending time outdoors, playing golf, riding horses, and team roping.

    Mark, a licensed attorney, was born and raised in Waco. He is a graduate of Baylor University and Baylor Law School. Prior to joining Community Bank & Trust, Mark worked for the federal government. Mark and his wife, Lauren, together with their two children enjoy spending time outdoors and attending Baylor athletic events.

    Kimberly White

    Kimberly started her career in banking at the First National Bank of Bryan in 1999 as a teller, while a student at Texas A&M University. After graduating from A&M in 2002, she was promoted to Loan Operations and eventually Trust. Kimberly joined Community Bank & Trust in 2007. Kimberly and her husband, Kevin, are members of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where they were married in 2010, and have two dogs and two cats. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially her nephews.

  • Tom Williams

    Tom graduated from Baylor University in 2003 with his BBA in Accounting and Master of Taxation. He is a Certified Public Accountant. He worked in public accounting with JRBT in the tax department for 18 years prior to joining Community Bank & Trust in 2021. Tom is active in the community volunteering with Boy Scouts of America, the Greater Waco Chamber, and he currently serves on the board of the Waco Symphony Association.

  • Jana Hixson

    Trust Officer & Portfolio Manager

    Jana, a licensed attorney, came to Community Bank & Trust after a career in the governmental and community relations arena.  After serving as District Director for Congressman Bill Flores, Jana handled employer relations for Baylor Law School and previously served as Baylor University’s Director of Community Relations, cultivating relationships between the university and Waco residents, community leaders, and businesses to enrich both the Baylor and Central Texas communities. Additionally, Jana worked as Director of Government Relations for Baylor and as an attorney/lobbyist in Austin.  Jana is a graduate of Baylor University and Baylor Law School and has been engaged in the Waco community for a number of years, including President of the Junior League of Waco and board member for March of Dimes, NeighborWorks Waco, and the Cen-Tex African American Chamber of Commerce.  Jana grew up singing in church and is an active member of First Baptist Woodway. For fun, she loves to support Baylor sports and loves time with her family, especially her three nieces and nephew.
