ATM Safety

For Community Bank & Trust a major priority with ATMs is consumer safety. ATMS are installed with customer protection in mind, including installing security cameras, enhanced lighting, and limiting hours for ATMs in areas with higher crime rates. With these enhanced protection measures, customers also need to use smart and cautious behavior when using ATMs. These safety precautions do not take away from the convenience of an ATM, instead they enhance the experience for you.

Customer Safety tips when using ATMs:

  • Keep your pin number a secret. Do not write it down or tell anyone else. Do not make your pin number easy to guess. Assume the criminals know you, do not make your PIN something like the year you were born.
  • Shield the keypad. Use your hand to prevent criminals from learning your PIN.
  • Be aware. When using an ATM, be alert and aware of people nearby. Do not use an ATM if you see someone suspicious.
  • Take your receipt. Do not leave anything behind after the transactions.
  • Do not use ATMs that look damaged or altered. This could mean a device that could steal information has been added.
  • Do not display any money received at the ATM. Instead, put it up and wait to count away from the ATMs.
