CB&T Announces Leadership Promotion

The board of directors of Community Bank & Trust announced that Benjamin C. Lacy has been named president of the bank, effective immediately. David Lacy will remain chairman and chief executive officer.

As president, Ben Lacy will assume increased administrative and leadership responsibilities while continuing to serve as senior commercial lending officer. In his expanded role, he will become increasingly involved in the bank’s operations and strategic direction while continuing to serve the commercial lending relationships he has developed throughout his career.

“Ben understands what makes Community Bank & Trust special, and I have confidence in his ability to help lead this bank into the future,” said David Lacy, chairman and CEO. “As we approach our 75th anniversary, I know he will carry forward the values and culture that have served our customers, employees, and community so well, while also embracing the changes necessary to keep our bank strong for years to come.”

Ben Lacy joined Community Bank & Trust in March 2007 as vice president in lending. He was promoted to senior vice president in commercial lending in 2017 and was elected to the bank’s board of directors in January 2021. Before joining Community Bank & Trust, Lacy practiced law with Sheehy, Lovelace & Mayfield in Waco. He earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University.

Ben Lacy is actively involved in the Waco community and currently serves on the boards of the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, Waco Industrial Foundation and Waco Family Medicine Foundation.

“The bank has a 75-year history of putting relationships first, and I am honored to have the opportunity to take on this role,” Ben Lacy said. “My goal is to build on the strong foundation that has been established here. This means maintaining the culture and personal service our customers and employees value while continuing to move our bank forward in an industry that is constantly changing.”

David Lacy will continue to serve as chairman and CEO of the bank, providing overall leadership and strategic direction while transitioning additional day-to-day administrative responsibilities to Ben Lacy.

David Lacy has served as a leader of Community Bank & Trust for more than three decades. He joined the bank in October 1990 as senior vice president and a member of the board of directors. He later served as executive vice president of lending before being elected president and CEO in June 1999. David Lacy was inducted into the Texas Bankers Hall of Fame in 2020.

As Community Bank & Trust approaches its 75th year in 2027, the leadership transition reflects the bank’s commitment to continuity while preparing for the next chapter of growth and service to Central Texas.
